The Cure For HIV and AIDS

posted by Stevie B on January 24th, 2009

The HIV AIDS virus has killed millions of people all over the world.  Without a cure for this virus, millions more will die.  Scientists all over the world have been searching for a way to combat this virus and they have come up with some amazing developments to better understand how this virus works and how it attacks the immune system.  With the internet, people are now given access to the same information that scientists are now sharing and given my previous article on how to solve any problem, I have decided to try and use that article to find a cure for AIDS.

Here we go…

Step 1 - Identify the problem

The AIDS virus replicates by mutating itself and since the immune system cannot identify every mutating cell, it becomes overwhelmed and eventually fails to work.  Since the immune system fails, it allows other diseases to enter and eventually it kills them.

Step 2 - Identify The Belief

The word “cannot” is the negative element in this problem, implying that “identification” is the belief.

Step 3 - Define The Belief

The immune system cannot identify the AIDS virus because it mutates

Step 4 - Identify The “All” Constant

The immune system can identify the AIDS virus because it mutates

Step 5 -Identify The Subject

The subject is “Mutates” because if the AIDS virus did not mutate, then the immune system could identify it.  So if we focus in on the subject of how the AIDS virus mutates, then we can begin to find out how to help the immune system to identify it.

Step 6 - Define The Subject

In a DNA strand of an infected HIV cell, nine DNA strands stay the same while all the other strands in the DNA mutate.  Thus making the surface of every cell different, which is what the immune system uses to identify cells.  However, the commonality is that all HIV AIDS virus cells have the same nine DNA strands.

(Skip Step 7 and Step 8 )

Step 9 -Insert The New Defined Subject Into The Belief

The immune system can identify the AIDS virus because the virus keeps the same nine DNA strands to create the AIDS virus.

Step 10 - Define The Belief In A Positive Way

If a vaccine can identify these nine DNA strands in an AIDS virus cell and if the vaccine can change the surface of the cell so that the immune system can identify it (like changing the surface of a HIV cell to look like it is infected with a cold virus), then the vaccine can help the immune system to identify AIDS, which will allow the immune system to kill it.

For The Scientists:

I have done some research and talked with various people and here is the same problem and solution reworded into Science speak:

Problem:

Upon infection, HIV immediately attacks and kills most CD4 Helper cells.  With the CD4 cells killed in the area of the infection, the Killer T cells are not alerted to the infection immediately, thus allowing HIV to begin replication.  When HIV replicates, it does so by keeping the 9 DNA strands and allowing the rest of the DNA to be variable, thus making different HIV variants within the body.  When the body begins to recognize the infection within the CD4 cells, the CD8 cells begin to attack the CD4 cells and those CD4 cells also die because of apoptosis.  When the CD4 helper cells die off below a certain level, cell-mediated immunity is lost and opportunistic viruses begin to attack the infected person.

Solution:

The way to kill HIV would be to have the CD8 cells recognize and kill the virus immediately.  To do so, one would just need to create a vaccine to flag HIV infected cells and let the immune system kill the virus.  The way to do this would be to create a cold virus that only infects HIV infected CD4 cells by identifying the 9 DNA HIV strands in CD4 cells. This would allow for CD8 cells to identify an infected cell and then kill the HIV infected cells before it kills people.

We just need to test the idea… Anybody???
