Is Money The Root Of All Evil?
Some people have a general hatred towards money, which is confusing since in another post we have just determined that money really is someone saying thank you. If money is the root of all evil, how can it also be a way to say thank you? Lets explore this inconsistency shall we…
What Happens When You Objectify Others For Money?
If we take what we know is true from the what is money post, then we know that the way you get more money is to give more people what they want. The more thanks you give, the more thanks you get. Now this thanks can come from anywhere. It could be starting a business to helping someone on the street. As long as your intention is to give to people what they want, then you will receive back in kind what you have given.
If you take this concept to mean that the person who you gave “thanks” too should give you back that “thanks”, then you are treating someone as an object and as such they will resist your attempts to give your “thanks” back. In fact, if you expect thanks when you give thanks, then you aren’t giving thanks and instead your act of helping someone is in fact an act of controlling that person. The reason is because you are trying to force someone to give you thanks by giving them what they want. Giving thanks is unconditional. You help someone because you want to help them not because they can help you. The goal of achieving money is internally motivated (I want to give you what you want) and not externally motivated (I will give you what you want, if you give me what I want). Therefore, receiving money is the product of helping others and not the goal.
Also understand that money will be hard to come by if you expect people to thank you first (Give you more money) before you have given them something that they want. This implies that you should give to people first and then money will come. If money is hard to come by, it most likely has to do with you not giving enough to people. Find out how you can give more to people and you will find that money will be easy to come by.
Can Money Be The Root Of All Evil?
Now you should understand how you think about money and relate it to what we have talked about here. If you think money is the root of all evil and is hard to come by, then this contradicts what we have just stated. Money is the means of saying thank you. So how can the root of all evil come from someone saying thank you. Saying thank you is not evil, but in fact it is a very good gesture. Also, money is only hard to come by if you expect people to give it to you. Once you understand that money is just someone saying thank you, then all you have to do is give something that someone else wants and they will give back to you in kind. Money is an abundant resource because it is easy to say thank you.
What about the idea of stealing?
If money is just a way of saying thanks to one person, then stealing someone’s thanks has converted money from a thank you to an f-you. The more f-you’s you collect the more problems that will come into your life because you would have to surround yourself with people who will be able to tolerate that behaviour and since stealing is a form of control, which is objectifying others, then the end result is that they will be controlled themselves, by either the law or some other party. So even though stealing is a short-term method of achieving wealth, it isn’t a sustainable method, as people will resist you taking their thanks from them.
