I think I Figured Out Depression And Anxiety

Depression and AnxietyHere is a simple question.

If you won ten million dollars in the lottery, how would you feel?

The majority of the world would say happy and amazing.

Curious though.  Why don’t you feel bad instead of good? You would say it is because they get a chance to remove their debt and travel somewhere nice, which is why they would feel good.

Now you might say that you would feel numb if you won because you don’t care about the world or scared because other people may change how they think about you. But here is another question though.  Wouldn’t everyone be numb if they didn’t care about the world or scared because of how others would change?

Emotions Are A Result Of Your Thoughts

If this is all true, then isn’t the difference in how you feel about winning the lottery really about how you think about it and not how you feel about it?  If your thoughts are different, then doesn’t that explain why you feel different?  If this is true, then all emotions are a result of your thoughts.

What I am trying to point out here is that your thoughts are causing you to feel bad.  People in this world have said that emotions are irrational, but I’d like to say that emotions are rational.  In fact, if you felt good killing someone, then we’d all kill each other until humanity is wiped off the planet.  We feel bad so that we STOP thinking what we are thinking.  If it felt good, we continue to do it.

You Control Your Thoughts

Now you might say that I do not control my thoughts and I’d say that you just made a decision to say that you do not control your thoughts, which means that you do control them.  Otherwise how can you make that decision?

Then you’ll say that your thoughts are unconscious and you can’t control them.  So I’ll ask you how you know English.  It is clearly unconscious right?  If that was the case, then why don’t you know French or Mandarin or the hundreds of other languages out there? Obviously you had to learn something consciously first to make it unconscious. If that is the case, then you can change your unconscious behaviours by using your conscious mind.

Then you will say that not all thoughts are mine because people around me influence them. This is true, but don’t you influence the people around you? Of course you do. So if they are negative, get away from them.

Then you will say… then you will say… then you will say…

Depression and Anxiety Happen Because Of How You Think

You keep looking for the negative when there is also a positive.  In life people will present to you an offering. That offering comes in many forms, like a compliment, a present or just about anything. This offering can be interpreted as good or bad, but the decision to decide if it is good is up to you.  If you look for the bad side of things, they will appear.  If you look for the good side, they too will appear.  The difference between seeing an offering as good or bad is completely up to you.

This means that you are choosing to feel bad and depressed and I can show you how to start choosing to feel good.

Depression and Anxiety Is Not A Chemical Imbalance

You might say that I may choose to think this way, but for others it may be a chemical imbalance.  The truth is that nobody really knows the physical cause of a chemical imbalance.  In fact, the most promising theory is that the chemical imbalance happens because of our thoughts and our actions.  Please read this article from the Insight Journal that explains what a chemical balance is and what causes a chemical imbalance.

You Control Emotion Because You Control Thought

To conclude, you control your emotions because you control your thoughts. There are things that influence your thoughts, but you get to either interpret those things or you can stay around those things. Life is completely your choice and you choose to feel bad by thinking bad.
